Mind In Salford - For Better Mental Health

About Garden Needs

Logo Garden NeedsGarden Needs is our flagship mental wellbeing garden centre, a partnership project between Mind in Salford and Social Adventures. It was launched in 2011 through a grant from the Big Lottery’s Ecominds scheme which was administered by national Mind.

Garden Needs is a place to come and make friends, commune with nature and learn some new skills. We have drop-ins and volunteering opportunities for people with experience of mental or emotional distress. You can even do a qualification in horticulture and help with our landscaping and grounds maintenance work.

It’s also a community hub, with a wide range of events year round such as foraging, live music, conservation events, healthy food demonstrations, bird box making and much more.

For a program of events and to find out more visit the website www.gardenneeds.org.uk.

The garden centre also sells a fantastic range of plants and associated products, all profits from which go back into maintaining this superb facility for Salford.

Ecotherapy is a cost-effective way to improve both physical and mental wellbeing, which is accessible and inclusive. Over the last five years the Ecominds scheme has shown that ecotherapy has a real impact on people’s mental wellbeing, provides access to education and training, increases social connectivity and the enjoyment of community green spaces.
