Mind Advocacy Project (MAP)
MAP is a community based mental health advocacy service. We can help anyone who identifies as having a mental health problem who is currently living or working in Salford.
Advocacy can be helpful in all kinds of situations where you are finding it difficult to make your views known, or to make people listen to them and take them into account.
Advocacy is a process of supporting and enabling people to:
-
Express their views and concerns
-
Access information and services
-
Defend and promote their rights and responsibilities
-
Explore choices and options
Examples of the kinds of situations we get involved with are:
> Attending medicals with you as part of your benefit claim
> Helping you to keep your housing tenancy if you are having difficulty with a landlord.
> Helping you to deal with difficulties between you and your employer
> Being with you during meetings with mental health professionals ( e.g. GPs and Psychiatrists)
If we can’t help you directly we can put you in touch with someone who can. Please contact us by e mail or telephone if you need our help.
Mind in Salford operates a strict confidentiality policy. Any records and files will be kept in a secure place and will be made available to you if you wish.
