Sam's story:
Sam has struggled with his mental health for as long as he can remember. He may not have named it anxiety, but it was always there. Over the past 6 years he has been working on his mental health with support from charities like Mind in Salford. This has involved him attending various forms of therapy, and receiving support for his finances after a period of time in unemployment. Talking and physical exercise have been two key factors for Sam in his ongoing recovery journey.
If you'd like to be active, but aren't sure where to start: start small! This guide has useful tips and exercises to help you get active and feel good both indoors and outdoors!

Many people in Salford, like Sam, have been affected by ill mental health. According to current statistics, 50% of Salford residents are concerned about their mental health (Salford City Council). With your support we can continue our journey toward better mental health for the people of Salford.

A Word From The Great North Walkers:
"We're walking from Newcastle to Manchester from the 13th to the 16th of July 2023 to raise money for Mind in Salford.
If it hadn't been for statutory mental health services and charities like Mind in Salford some of us, and many other people, would no longer be here.
We're walking 128 miles over 4 days to celebrate being alive, and to raise awareness for those who are struggling with their mental health.
The opportunity to work on our mental health has quite literally been instrumental to survival for some of us; help Mind in Salford to help more people do the same."
