Training

We offer affordable and comprehensive training delivered by experienced practitioners.

Our training sessions are focused on adult (18yrs+) mental health.  The training sessions we offer are comprehensive, interactive, research/evidence-based and are delivered by experienced professionals currently working in the field of mental health.  The training sessions offer opportunities to put learning into practice and resource packs are supplied for participants.

World Mental Health Day takes place on 10th October every year, national Stress Awareness Day is on the first Wednesday in November each year, Time to Talk Day is on 7th Feb 2019, April is annual Stress Awareness Month, and Mental Health Awareness Week takes place across the UK during the second week of May – all good opportunities to start the conversation about mental health, to tackle stigma and discrimination and to take time to consider how to support your own wellbeing.

By procuring mental health training or mindfulness sessions from Mind in Salford you will be supporting us to continue to offer free mindfulness courses to people with mental health issues on low or no income in the local community; this can also contribute to your Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

2 Day Adult Mental Health First Aid

This training can be delivered for a minimum of 8 participants and up to 16 participants on-site in the workplace or alternatively for up to 12 participants at our Angel Centre training room. The 2 days can be delivered consecutively or split across 1 week (eg, Thursday one week and Tuesday the following week).

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based, internationally recognised training, accredited and certificated by the Royal Society for Public Health.  MHFA teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and to provide initial help and support – just like physical first aiders do for people with injuries or physical ill health.  This comprehensive training covers depression, suicide, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, self-harm, personality disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, treatment options and recovery model.

In the workplace or in day-to-day life, trained Mental Health First Aiders can be a first port of call for anyone in mental distress and they can signpost individuals to access professional treatment and support for their recovery.

Cost/Investment:     

  • £300 per participant corporate/commercial rate
  • £230 per participant public/statutory rate
  •  £185 per participant individual rate

All rates inclusive of resource pack (we do not charge VAT)

This session is designed for people mangers or team leaders - this can be delivered for a minimum of 6 participants and up to 16 participants on-site in the workplace or alternatively for up to 12 participants at our Angel Centre training room.

Cost/Investment: 

£1000 per session inclusive of participants’ resource packs (we do not charge VAT).

  • An overview of mental health awareness – how mental health affects us all.
  • Common mental health issues – recommended treatment options and how to access professional help and support.
  • Employers responsibilities and Employees rights in respect of mental health.
  • Best practice approaches to managing mental health in the workplace – including case studies.
  • Communication skills for supporting Employees/Team Members who are experiencing mental ill-health or are recovering.
  • Case studies - an opportunity to put learning and skills into practice and build confidence.
  • How to respond to and support someone experiencing mental distress.
  • Signposting to professional help and support services.
  • The importance of wellbeing - including taking care of our own mental health

Details

We provide Mental Health & Wellbeing Awareness training sessions to organisations and companies throughout Greater Manchester.  The training takes participants through mental health definitions, the needs of people with mental health issues and how to respond, myth busting and tackling stigma around mental ill health plus how to look after our own mental health and wellbeing.

Session Content

This session is flexible and can be delivered in either a 90 min or 3 hour format depending on the size of group and the level of learning/training required, each session includes:

  • An overview of mental health conditions, symptoms and diagnosis
  • An overview of NICE guidelines recommended treatments for mental health conditions
  • Tackling the stigma that surrounds mental health
  • Mental health in the workplace
  • Approaches to help support someone who presents with mental distress
  • The importance of wellbeing for all including taking care of our own mental health
  • Brief overview of Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007 – 3 hour format
  • Suicide prevention awareness – 3 hour format
  • Applying learning to case studies - 3 hour format
  • An introduction to Mindfulness – 3 hour format
  • Participant Resource Pack - 3 hour format

Cost/Investment: 

  • £750 for 3 hour format (inclusive total we do not charge VAT)
  • £400 for 90 min format (inclusive total we do not charge VAT)

Up to 12 individuals can attend these sessions at our training room in The Angel Centre, Salford alternatively we can provide these sessions on-site at your workplace or other suitable facility for up to 16 participants.

Mindfulness Taster Sessions

Mind in Salford has been running Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses since 2011, with very positive results.  Participants have reported dramatic reductions in their stress levels, better sleeping patterns, reduced anxiety and improved mood. We also provide one hour Mindfulness Taster Sessions for workplaces and community organisations.

Advocacy Training for the Statutory Sector: Advocacy & Human Rights, Mental Health Act, IMHA Care Act, IMCA, DoLS – 1 day or bespoke shorter sessions

Course Details

We regularly offer mental health and advocacy/rights training days at our training room here at Mind in Salford.  These training days are suitable for anyone who is seeking an awareness and understanding of mental health conditions. The course will be of particular interest to those who come into contact with people with mental health conditions as part of their work, for the family or friends of people experiencing mental health conditions who would benefit from information and guidance and for anyone with an interest in learning more about this subject.

Costs: 

  • Individual Participant Rate paid for by Employer/Organisation:  £200 (inclusive)
  • Individual Participant Rate paid for by Individual:  £150 (inclusive
  • Corporate/Commercial Organisation Rate:  £1400 (inclusive)  for up to 12 people at The Angel Centre or 16 people on-site.
