Training Courses

We deliver affordable and comprehensive training courses provided by experienced practitioners.

We currently offer two distinct one day training sessions  – these are focused on adult mental health.  The training days are comprehensive and delivered by a members of our training team, who are experienced professionals working in the field of mental health.  The training days involve interactive elements with opportunities to put learning into practice and resource packs are supplied for each participant.  Shorter bespoke sessions are also available – please contact suzanne@mindinsalford.org.uk to book or for more information.

By procuring mental health awareness training or mindfulness sessions from Mind in Salford you will be supporting us to continue to offer free mindfulness courses to people with mental health issues on low or no income in the local community; this can also contribute to your Corporate Social Responsibility programme.  

 

mhfa england mind in salfordMind in Salford now offer Mental Health First Aid England Training for individuals, businesses and organisations in Salford.  Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based internationally recognised training, backed by the Royal Society for Public Health, which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and to provide initial help and support – just like physical first aiders do for people with injuries or physical ill health.

In the workplace, education setting or in day-to-day life, trained mental health first aiders can be a first port of call for anyone in mental distress and they can signpost individuals to access professional treatment and support for their recovery.

The 2 day Adult Mental Health First Aid training courses are for everyone aged 16 yrs upwards.  Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions.   https://mhfaengland.org/

What will I learn?

The cost/investment per person is £300 total (as a small to medium size charity we don’t charge VAT) and includes individual resource packs including the MHFA manual.

From listening to the needs of local employers, Mind in Salford have developed a half day (3.5 hours) Managing Mental Health in the Workplace session to train people managers in how to support employees who are experiencing mental health issues.

The half day session covers:

  • An overview of mental health awareness – how mental health affects us all.
  • Common mental health issues – recommended treatment options and how to access professional help and support.
  • Employers responsibilities and Employees rights in respect of mental health.
  • Best practice approaches to managing mental health in the workplace – including case studies.
  • Communication skills for supporting Employees/Team Members who are experiencing mental ill-health or are recovering.
  • Case studies - an opportunity to put learning and skills into practice and build confidence.
  • How to respond to and support someone experiencing mental distress.
  • Signposting to professional help and support services.

Cost/Investment: £1000 total inclusive of resource packs for participants (as a small-medium sized charity we do not charge VAT)

NOTE: Mental Health Awareness week takes place across the UK between 14-20 May – Join us to help change the conversation about mental health, and take time to consider steps you can take to support your own mental wellbeing.

Course Details

We provide Mental Health Awareness Training to organisations and companies throughout Greater Manchester.  The training takes participants through mental health definitions, the needs of people with mental health issues and how to respond, myth busting and tackling stigma around mental ill health plus how to look after our own mental health and wellbeing.

Course Content:

  • An overview of mental health conditions – symptoms and diagnosis
  • An overview of NICE guidelines recommended treatments for mental health conditions
  • Brief overview of Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007
  • Tackling the stigma that surrounds mental health
  • Mental Health in the Workplace
  • Suicide prevention awareness
  • Approaches to help support someone who presents with mental distress
  • The importance of wellbeing for all including taking care of our own mental health
  • An introduction to Mindfulness – an evidence-based programme to support and improve wellbeing

Costs: 

  • Individual Participant Rate paid for by Employer/Organisation:  £200 (inclusive)
  • Individual Participant Rate paid for by Individual:  £150 (inclusive
  • Corporate/Commercial Organisation Rate:  £1400 (inclusive)  for up to 12 people at The Angel Centre or 16 people on-site.

Good mental wellbeing can also greatly boost productivity and team morale .

Mindfulness Course Details

Mind in Salford has been running a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programme since 2011, with very positive results.  After attending the Mindfulness 8 week courses people have experienced dramatic reductions in their stress levels, better sleeping patterns, reduced anxiety and improved mood. We also provide mindfulness tasters and training in workplace settings and a 12 month supervised Mindfulness Practitioner Training Programme (PTP)– the next intake for our Mindfulness in Mind PTP is Sept 2018, applications accepted from  April – July 2018.

Advocacy Training for the Statutory Sector: Advocacy & Human Rights, Mental Health Act, IMHA Care Act, IMCA, DoLS – 1 day or bespoke shorter sessions

Course Details

We regularly offer mental health and advocacy/rights training days at our training room here at Mind in Salford.  These training days are suitable for anyone who is seeking an awareness and understanding of mental health conditions. The course will be of particular interest to those who come into contact with people with mental health conditions as part of their work, for the family or friends of people experiencing mental health conditions who would benefit from information and guidance and for anyone with an interest in learning more about this subject.

Costs:
