Rainbow Mind Ambassadors
Our team of Rainbow Mind Ambassadors was created to raise awareness, expand support, enhance service provision, and help fund LGBTQIA+ specific mental health initiatives. We are proud to have convened a dynamic and diverse team who amplify our mission, and foster inclusive, community-led support networks.

In today’s challenging social climate, our work is more important than ever. Our ambassadors are dedicated to helping create a safer, more supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ individuals across Greater Manchester and beyond. We also recognise and respond to the diverse needs within our community, acknowledging the intersectionality of identities and the unique experiences that shape each person’s mental health journey.

Help shape our services
Your lived experience shapes everything we do. If you’ve used our services and want to help guide future support through our research projects or Lived Experience Board, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to arrange a conversation about where your experience could have the most impact: rainbowmind@mindinsalford.org.uk
Our current projects include:
Understanding the Impact of Rainbow Mind’s 1-1 Therapy
We’re looking to talk to LGBTQIA+ people who have accessed Rainbow Mind’s one-to-one therapy to understand how our service is impacting our community’s mental health and wellbeing. The interview will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour and can be conducted in-person or via Microsoft teams. The following topics may be discussed in the interviews:
- Your mental health journey
- Experiences of accessing mental health services
- Community connection and belonging
If you want to be a part of shaping the future of Rainbow Mind, please consider sharing your feedback and experience with us!
Rainbow Mind: Communities without shame
Have you had Compassion‑Focused Therapy with a Rainbow Mind therapist? If you’re neurodiverse and/or a Person of Colour, we’d really value hearing about your experience.
We’re looking to speak with LGBTQIA+ people who have:
- Had at least one session of Compassion‑Focused Therapy
- Lived experience as a neurodiverse person and/or someone from a non‑White background
- A willingness to share their reflections in a one‑hour interview (in person or online)
Your insight will help us understand what’s working, what isn’t, and how we can make our support more inclusive and effective. You can also choose to be entered into a prize draw for taking part.
Rainbow Mind Greater Manchester Lived Experience Board
The Rainbow Mind Greater Manchester Lived Experience Board brings together people who have accessed the Rainbow Mind therapy service, as well as those with lived experience of mental health more broadly.
The purpose of the board is to ensure that the voices and perspectives of people with lived experience are central to how our services grow and develop. Members share insights, reflections, and ideas that help shape the future direction of Rainbow Mind, from how our services are delivered to how we reach and support our communities.
We believe that people with lived experience hold invaluable knowledge about what support really looks like in practice. By creating space for those voices to be heard, the Lived Experience Board helps ensure that Rainbow Mind’s work remains grounded, responsive, and rooted in the realities of the communities we serve.
Participation is voluntary and collaborative, and we aim to create a space where people feel safe, respected, and able to contribute meaningfully to the development of Rainbow Mind Greater Manchester.

Lauren – Rainbow Mind Event Volunteer
I had such a lovely afternoon volunteering with Rainbow Mind. I was made to feel so at ease and very welcome. Everyone who joined us was extremely friendly, chatty and got stuck in. It was really great to meet people in the LGBTQIA+ community and share stories and our experiences – and ultimately feel like part of the community. I’d definitely recommend volunteering with Rainbow Mind to anyone, it was such a great experience and I’d love to get involved again! Thank you to the Rainbow Mind team for making this opportunity available to me.
